How to Make Brand Merch With AI in 30 Seconds (No Designer, No Upfront Cost)

Use Leewow's AI product creation agent to generate hoodies, mugs, phone cases, and 20+ other products from a one-line description. Free to generate, pay only when you order.

By Akhil Boddu · AfricanTechBro

Disclosure: This guide is part of a paid partnership with Leewow. The discount code below is a tracked affiliate link. I only ran this guide because I tested the tool myself first and ordered four products with my own brand on them. Part 2 (real-product quality reveal) drops when the order lands.

How to make brand merch with AI in 30 seconds

What you'll be able to do after reading this: Generate original, on-brand product designs across 20+ product types — hoodies, mugs, tote bags, phone cases, laptop sleeves — from a single description, without hiring a designer or paying anything upfront.

Prerequisites: A brand name, project name, or even just an idea you want on a product. A laptop or phone with a browser.

Time to complete: 30 seconds to your first design. About 5 minutes if you want to iterate before ordering.

The problem this solves

Most people who want merch — for their brand, their side project, a gift, a fan page — never actually get any made. The wall is always the same:

  • Find a designer (R500–R3,000 per design, weeks of back-and-forth)
  • Find a supplier with low minimums (rare in SA)
  • Pay upfront for designs you haven't tested
  • Wait, hope, and pray the mockups match the real thing

By the time you've done all that, the moment has passed. The launch you wanted to celebrate is over. The gift is late. The brand idea is dead.

AI product creation agents collapse this. You describe what you want. The AI designs it across every product type. You only pay when you actually want to order.

The 30-second test (what I actually did)

Before writing any of this, I ran the test myself. I went to Leewow, typed two words — AfricanTechBro — and waited.

No brief. No mood board. No reference images. No "make it modern but not too modern" back-and-forth.

In under 30 seconds, the AI came back with four product mockups:

  • A laptop sleeve with Africa rendered in topographic line art
  • A mug in retro terminal style
  • A phone case with circuit board traces running across the continent
  • A hoodie that, honestly, goes hard

Not templates. Not stock art with my logo slapped on. Original designs that actually understood "African" + "Tech" + "Bro" as a concept.

I ordered all four. Part 2 of this story is the unboxing — real product quality, no mockups, when they arrive.

How Leewow works (the loop)

flowchart LR
    A[Describe what you want] --> B[AI generates designs]
    B --> C{Review mockups}
    C -->|Love it| D[Order — pay only here]
    C -->|Iterate| A
    C -->|Try other products| E[Same design, 20+ product types]
    E --> C

Four steps. The whole loop is free until step 4.

Step 1 — Describe

The Leewow site is currently unreachable in our link checks. Message me for the current access link. Once you have access, tell the AI what you want. The description can be:

  • A brand name (e.g. "AfricanTechBro")
  • A theme ("retro arcade", "minimalist line art of my dog Rex")
  • A vibe + subject ("90s skate aesthetic, surfing pelican")
  • A literal logo or sketch you upload

Tip: The more specific the vibe, the better. The AI is good at translating mood into design language. "Cyberpunk vending machine" beats "make it look cool."

Step 2 — Generate

The AI returns designs across product types in under a minute. No queue, no "your design will be ready in 2 business days."

Step 3 — Review

You see mockups across the catalogue. If something doesn't land, refine the prompt and regenerate. Generating is free, so iterate as much as you want.

Step 4 — Order

This is the only step that costs money. You pick the products you actually want, sizes, quantities, and check out. Everything before this point is $0.

The 20+ product types

You're not picking from "shirt or mug." Leewow's catalogue covers most of the merch surfaces a small brand or gift-giver actually wants:

Apparel Drinkware Tech accessories Bags & home
Hoodies Mugs Phone cases Tote bags
T-shirts Tumblers Laptop sleeves Backpacks
Sweatshirts Water bottles AirPods cases Pillows
Long sleeves Mouse pads Posters
Caps Stickers

The same single design adapts across all of them automatically. You don't have to redo the work for each product.

Use cases beyond brand merch

Most people land on Leewow thinking "merch for my company." But the same loop works for a much wider set of jobs:

  • Pet portraits — describe your dog, get a stylised portrait on a tote, mug, or pillow. Birthday gift solved.
  • Fan art — your favourite band, show, anime, footballer. The AI doesn't care, it just designs.
  • Custom gifts — anniversary, baby shower, leaving present. "Two cats riding a tandem bicycle in 1920s sepia" is now a real product.
  • Personal logos — you sketched something on a napkin. Upload it, get it cleaned up across products.
  • Event merch — wedding party, hackathon team, meetup group, sports team kit.
  • Side-project drops — your indie app, your newsletter, your podcast. Test demand before going wholesale.

Watch out: AI design isn't infinite — sometimes the first generation isn't right. Iterate. The cost of trying again is zero, so use that.

Pricing model (free to generate)

This is the part that breaks the old merch model:

  • Generating designs: free, unlimited
  • Iterating on a design: free
  • Browsing across all 20+ products: free
  • Ordering a real product: this is when you pay — per-item pricing on the catalogue page

There's no subscription. No "free trial that expires." No credit-pack to top up. You only ever spend money if you decide to put a product in your hands.

For someone testing whether merch is even worth it for their brand, this is the right shape.

Honest logistics note (read this before you order)

I wouldn't put my name on this guide without flagging the actual shipping reality:

Leewow's current priority market is the US and Europe, where their logistics are most established. They absolutely do welcome and serve African customers — and they will ship to you — but shipping to Africa may take slightly longer than the standard times you see at checkout.

If you're ordering for a specific date (birthday, launch, event), build in extra buffer. If you're ordering casually for your own use, you'll be fine.

I'm calibrating expectations honestly because Part 2 of my own video is literally the unboxing of products shipping to Cape Town. I want you to order with the same information I had.

Discount code: AFRICANTECH15

Apply at checkout. Stacks with whatever pricing tier you're already on.

Generate some designs first. Don't pay for anything until you've actually seen the AI return something you like. That's the whole point of the model — risk is on them, not you.

What's next

  • Part 2 is coming. When my four products arrive in Cape Town, I'm filming the unboxing and showing real quality, real fit, real print, no mockups. Follow @africantechbro.ai so you don't miss it.
  • If you're building a brand, generate a design today — even if you don't order. Knowing what your brand could look like on a hoodie changes how seriously you take it.
  • If you're shopping for a gift, this is genuinely faster than going to a mall.

Recap

  • Leewow is an AI product creation agent — describe, it designs across 20+ products
