Google is offering 5,000 free career certificates in South Africa. Here's how to get one before they fill up.

Google partnered with the South African government to offer 5,000 fully funded Google Career Certificates. These are the same certificates that cost $49/month on Coursera, but free for South African residents.
The certificates available include:
- Data Analytics -- learn SQL, spreadsheets, R, Tableau
- IT Support -- hardware, networking, troubleshooting, security
- UX Design -- research, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing
- Project Management -- Agile, Scrum, stakeholder management
- Cybersecurity -- threat analysis, SIEM tools, incident response
- Digital Marketing & E-commerce -- SEO, SEM, analytics, e-commerce platforms
Who Can Apply
You need to be a South African resident, 18 or older, and have a matric certificate. No prior tech experience required -- these certificates are specifically designed for career changers.
How Long It Takes
Each certificate takes 3-6 months at 10 hours per week. You can go faster if you dedicate more time. The coursework is entirely online and self-paced.
How to Apply
- Go to grow.google/certificates
- Select your preferred certificate
- Apply through the South African funding portal (link provided in the guide download)
- Complete the eligibility check
- Start learning immediately once approved
Applications are first-come, first-served. The 5,000 spots will fill up.
