Facts or Cap: AI & the Future of Work
A 30-minute game-show-style talk for Grade 12 learners — five claims about AI and your career, five verdicts backed by evidence, and everything you need to start this week with just a phone.

The format
Five things people say about AI and your future. The room shouts FACTS or CAP on each one. Then the evidence comes out. No lecture, no doom, no hype — just five verdicts and what to do about them.

Don't build your identity around one tool. Build proof that you can solve problems with whatever tools exist.

in 7 days with no money and just a phone. It must end with
one thing I can show another person as proof.
After I do it, I'll report back — then review what happened
and suggest the next experiment.
Don't ask AI to choose your life. Ask it to design small experiments that produce evidence.
3 · The First Client (make something real for a real business)
I want to help a real small business this week using free AI tools.
The business: [what it is — e.g. my aunt's salon, a local
sneaker shop, my uncle's transport business]
Help me create ONE useful thing for them: a poster, a set of
WhatsApp/Instagram captions, a simple price list, or a
one-page website outline.
Ask me what the business needs most before you start.
Keep everything simple enough to finish in one afternoon.
A real person using something you made beats any certificate at seventeen.
The 7-day challenge
Make one thing with AI this week:
- Study path — run one real study-coach session on a topic you're revising.
- Business path — make a poster, caption pack or price list for someone you actually know.
- Career path — get AI to design you one tiny career experiment, then actually do it.
The only rule: by next Friday, one real human must have seen it or used it. Not perfect. Seen.

The jobs scoreboard (slide 14) — the numbers behind claim 3
Per the WEF Future of Jobs Report 2025 (1,000+ employers surveyed):
- Shrinking fastest by 2030: data entry clerks, bank tellers, postal service clerks, cashiers & ticket clerks, administrative assistants — every one a bundle of routine tasks, exactly what claim 1 predicts.
- Growing fastest: big data specialists, fintech engineers, AI & machine learning specialists, software developers, security specialists.
- Growing biggest in absolute numbers: care roles (nursing), teachers, skilled trades, green-energy roles.
- The pattern to land: both ends grow — high-tech and deeply human. The routine middle thins out. Pick an end, or combine them (a nurse who uses AI, an electrician who runs the business with it).

If time slips
- The claim slides (4, 8, 12, 16, 19) are the rhythm — never cut a claim, shorten its verdict instead.
- At 15 minutes remaining with claims left: compress slide 11 (two doors) and slide 15 (direction) to one line each, and give the scoreboard (slide 14) one glance-line: "shrinking = routine, growing = tech + human."
- Always preserve: the 6am team story (slide 6), the confession (slide 10), the photograph line (slide 21) and the QR (slide 23).
- Q&A comes out of the close, not out of claim 5.
No-internet backup
The deck is fully self-contained — no external images, fonts or scripts. Nothing in the talk requires connectivity: the only audience action is shouting and photographing slides. If learner data is poor, tell them the QR page mirrors everything so they can load it at home on wifi.
